Citing onerous regulations, the political climate, and vocal opposition to the business, the last remaining gun store in San Francisco is shuttering its doors at the end of October.
In the midst of mounting gun regulations and organized campaigns seeking its closure, High Bridge Arms has had enough. Public critics have called the store a public nuisance that sells products that endanger the lives of San Francisco residents. And to top it off, there is a proposed ordinance that would require the store to video tape every gun purchase and to submit it along with a record of all ammunition sales to the police.
“I’m not doing that to our customers,” the general manager Steven Alcairo said, referring to the proposal. “Enough is enough. Buying a gun is a constitutionally protected right. Our customers shouldn’t be treated like they’re doing something wrong.”
Alcairo announced the closing on the store’s Facebook site.
