Law Shield would like to mention to our members that Proposition 6 on the November 3, 2015 ballot is a proposal for an amendment to the Texas Constitution that establishes an individual right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife in Texas.
The Right to Hunt, Fish and Harvest Amendment would ensure that wildlife conservation and management decisions continue to be based on sound science and would protect this heritage from future attacks by well-funded anti-hunting organizations.
The measure began as Senate Joint Resolution 22, sponsored by state Representative Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin) and state Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe).
According to the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Texas hunters and anglers spend $4.1 billion annually and support 65,993 jobs.
The amendment’s approval by voters would make Texas the 19th state to enact a constitutional right to hunt and fish, and the eighth state to do so during the 2010s.
Early voting will be October 19 thru October 30.
