Statistics released by the FBI on October 3 show that more guns were sold in September than in any month before, continuing the trend of increasing gun sales for the past 17 months.
Almost 2 million guns were sold last month, bringing the total for the year to nearly 20 million firearms.
And remember, the reported number of sales is based solely upon background checks conducted by the FBI through the NICS system. It does not include private unreported gun sales.
With increased talks of gun control and the uncertainty of the next administration, both gun and ammunition sales are up in anticipation of increased regulations or outright bans on certain items, especially AR-15 style rifles and .223 ammunition.
